Cantabile

The Canterbury College Cantabile Choir is recognised as one of the finest school choirs in South East Queensland. Founded in 1993 by Susan Gouchee, Cantabile has a rich history of performing in music festivals and competitions both in Australia and throughout the world. The recipients of gold and silver medals from World Choir Games in Cincinnati, USA; Graz, Austria; Bremen, Germany; and Busan; Korea; Cantabile has been placed second at the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, Austria and third at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales. With its current director, Dr Katrina Peddell, the choir continues its strong traditions established over 20 years aspiring always for choral excellence. In 2014, the choir was awarded first place in the Australian National Eisteddfod in two divisions: the 19 Years and Under Championships and the open division, the Australian Choral Challenge. In addition, they were awarded the Best Performance of an Australian composition. Cantabile performs a varied program with repertoire ranging from traditional choral works through to contemporary popular styles.
